Will's latest fascinations

In working in the backyard, doing preparations for the garage, Gordon inadvertantly ran over one of Will's plastic tractor toys. Out of guilt, he felt the need to replace the thing, even though I'm sure Will would never have known. So, Gordon bought this John Deere tractor for Will over a week ago. The thing has had to go EVERYWHERE with us!

It even goes outside to actually dig up the dirt and sand.

After many weeks of Will no longer trying to climb on the counter space of the kids' little kitchentte, I was shocked to find this on Sunday morning:

What?!?! You mean this isn't the greatest perch for watching tv??

....did you note the un-zipped jammies? More mornings than not, I go in to get Will up for the day and find that he's standing up in his crib at least half undressed. Can't keep this kid dressed anymore!

More garage project pics!

Here are some more garage project pics -- taken yesterday morning! Things are moving right along!
This is a pic of the forms and re-bar that Gordon put together in preparation of the concrete pour.

Gordon and some friends levelling and spreading the concrete as it gets poured from the truck.

William, of course, couldn't be far away from watching all the action! He was in total awe of the big cement truck!

Delivery of the garage

I know I've been promising to get new/more pictures of the garage project up. Please forgive me for taking so long -- it's been busy around here! Here are some pics from when the garage was being delivered:

The flatbed truck that delivered our garage arrived around 4:30am. Gordon, in his child-like Christmas-morning-excitement, woke me up to advise me of the latest development. He was up & dressed well before 6am, cup of coffee for the truck driver in hand, heading out to inspect the load.

Gordon's friend, Ed, came up to help Gordon unload all the pieces using the backhoe. The two of them had it all done in about an hour!

'Course they may have taken a little longer to unload if they'd actually put the pieces up by the garage site. Instead, everything got off-loaded onto our front lawn. A couple of our neighbors asked me if it was all going to be there for a while. Lucky for everyone involved, Gordon got it all moved (and better organized) the next day.

Garage to be delivered!!

Gordon received notice yesterday that the steel pieces for his garage will be loaded on the delivery truck this Saturday, 9/15/07! We should expect delivery at our house either Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Be prepared for more garage project pictures as Gordon and friends get the pieces assembled. I pray it won't be long before this entire project is completed!!

9/11

9/11 will forever be indelibly etched on my brain, for reasons that are probably obvious to anyone who reads my blog. I'm sure it's the same for you. Such a horrendously scary day from our recent history. One that changed my world.

As we were getting ready for our day this morning, I asked the girls if they knew the significance of today. Both responded with no. I explained to them what happened on that fateful day six years ago. I described for them what Gordon, Grace, and I were doing the moment we saw the news. I explained to them that I will never ever ever forget how I reacted when I saw the first Tower in flames and then moments later when Gordon and I watched as a second plane flew directly into the second Tower. I will never forget the fear I felt for my little Grace and the new baby that I'd recently learned was growing in my belly. The uncertainity of what their world would end up being like. I was terrified that they would never know the free world that I grew up in.

I remember learning about JFK in school. I remember asking my mom about him, his presidency, and his very public death. My mother could tell me in detail exactly what she was doing and where she was the moment she heard the news. I know that the tragedies of 9/11 will forever be like that for me. It'll be something that my children and grandchildren learn about in school as part of history. But it was something that I lived through. A part of MY history.
